Description:
Voluntary Manslaughter occurs when a person intentionally causes the death of another individual, but does so in the heat of passion or under circumstances that mitigate the intent, such as provocation or extreme emotional disturbance. This charge applies when the killing is not premeditated but is still deliberate.
Examples:
- Killing someone during a heated argument or fight
- Reacting violently to a serious provocation resulting in death
- Committing homicide in a moment of emotional breakdown

Punishment Guidelines:
- Jail time: 75 minutes
- Fine: $10,000
Notes:
- If the act was premeditated, escalate to P.C. 1006 – Murder (Second Degree) or P.C. 1007 – Murder (First Degree)
- If the death was unintentional and reckless, consider P.C. 1005 – Involuntary Manslaughter
